Our Assembly / Buddy Day and Handshake

Mr Rooke is very proud of his wonderful students!
The 6W Assembly showed a variety of the great talents in the class. Special mention goes to the quality of the letters the children have written to state and federal politicians, regarding issues of concern to them. A highlight of the assembly was the amazing harmonising of our beautiful rendition of
"Wayfairing Stranger"
Well done 6W!

At our assembly,6W also introduced
National Buddy Day and the Buddy Handshake
to the school community.
This is an initiative created to celebrate friendship and raise awareness of the issue of bullying amongst primary school children. National Buddy Day focuses on the ways in which kids can help other kids to learn positive behaviours, ultimately helping to reduce instances of bullying.

Additionally, children across Australia are being encouraged to join together in a gesture of friendship and learn the ‘Buddy Handshake’.

The Buddy Handshake has been designed to symbolise the importance of friendships. It represents he values of:
-      caring for others
-       friendliness
-       respect
-      valuing difference
-      including others
-       and responsibility.
